“Nuts and bolts and wiring is my life. It’s what I love to do.” When he’s not at work as a Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician at Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix, Joshua Shipley is hard at work building Sprint race cars. Joshua has been racing almost as long as he has been walking, winning his first race at just four-years-old. There are many parallels between building a race car and maintaining an airplane. According to Joshua, races are won in the garage. Race cars must be mechanically sound to finish a race. The same can be said for airplanes, especially because people’s lives are on the line. “There is no room for second best when repairing and maintaining an aircraft. Everything has to be precise.”
