The CH-47 Chinook is an advanced multi-mission helicopter for the U.S. Army and international defense forces. The Chinook is the helicopter of choice for humanitarian disaster-relief operations, in missions such as transportation of relief supplies and mass evacuation of refugees. Chinooks serve the armed forces of 19 countries around the world. Honeywell supplies a variety of systems for the helicopter, including the T-55 turboshaft engine. To date, Honeywell has manufactured more than 6,000 T55 engines, which are said to have logged approximately 12 million hours of operation on the CH-47 and MH-47 Chinook helicopters.
