Hand controllers are used to manipulate the attitude of the spacecraft. Mechanical inputs from the crew are converted to electrical position and switch function commands. Each Translational Hand Controller (THC) provides an interface between the crew and the Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) subsystem to provide control of translation along the longitudinal (X), lateral (Y) and vertical (Z) axes of the vehicle. Honeywell provides the THC for the International Space Station (ISS) and the Orion Space Capsule.
