Honeywell has a long history of providing support to the international COSPAS-SARSAT network, providing both ground-based satellite downlink infrastructure as well as satellite repeaters. Since 1982 this global search and rescue system has helped to save over 40,000 lives worldwide.

Honeywell continues to develop the next generation of space-based search and rescue repeaters, intended for use on GPS-III satellites in medium-Earth orbit (MEOSAR).
